Elk Grove police are investigating a Thursday evening collision in which a pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries.
Officer Christopher Trim, Police Department spokesman, said the collision occurred about 6:50 p.m. A white Toyota Prius was westbound on Laguna Boulevard, approaching Laguna Main Street, when the pedestrian, who had been standing on the center median, stepped into the roadway, into the path of the Prius.
Trim said the pedestrian, a woman, was transported to an area hospital.
The driver of the Prius remained at the scene.
As of 9:45 p.m., westbound Laguna Boulevard was closed at High Tech Court, and was expected to remain closed for several hours, Trim said. Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
