Two people claiming to be residents from the Oroville Dam evacuation have been arrested on suspicion of check fraud in Granite Bay.

Jonathan L. Jones, 28, of Sacramento and Felicia Gail Moses, 46, of Yuba City claimed to be evacuees who had to leave their homes because problems were detected with an emergency spillway at the Oroville Dam, according to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said the pair scammed a Granite Bay resident out of several hundred dollars and then contacted the victim for more money. A meeting was arranged and Jones and Moses were arrested Tuesday by detectives from the property crimes unit.
