The California Highway Patrol reports the closure of Highway 50 in both directions between Sly Park Road and Fresh Pond in El Dorado County due to the King fire, and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office has issued mandatory evacuations for neighborhoods in the eastern portion of Pollock Pines.

Eastbound traffic on Highway 50 is being held at Sly Park Road and westbound traffic at Riverton.

Mandatory evacuations are in effect for Pony Express Trail, east of Sly Park Road, and for several nearby roads on either side of Highway 50.

The Sheriff’s Office has issued a voluntary evacuation order for the Gold Ridge area, including all residences west of Sly Park Road south of Highway 50 to the southern end of Gold Ridge Trail where it ties in to Sly Park Road.

The Red Cross has established an evacuation shelter at the Seventh Day Adventist Church at 3520 Carson Road in Camino.
